UPDATE: Visa, Mastercard, dollar payments of Evrofinance Mosnarbank blocked

MOSCOW, Mar 13 (PRIME) -- Visa and Mastercard pay cards issued by Evrofinance Mosnarbank and payments in the U.S. dollars were blocked after the bank appeared on the U.S. blacklist, the bank said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Due to inclusion of Evrofinance Mosnarbank in the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list starting from March 12, 2019, payment systems Visa and Mastercard suspended the bank’s membership in the payment systems which resulted in blocking of the Visa and Mastercard cards abroad and of Visa and Mastercard cards on the territory of the Russian Federation by company Cardstandard, including restrictions in acceptance of Visa and Mastercard cards in the ATMs of the bank,” the bank said.

“Please be advised that due to inclusion of Evrofinance Mosnarbank in the OFAC list, the bank has been making no U.S. dollar transactions since March 11, 2019,” the bank said.

Evrofinance Mosnarbank said it will replace the Visa cards with the cards of the Russian Mir payment service.

On Tuesday, the U.S. added Evrofinance Mosnarbank to the sanctions list for its connection with Venezuelan state oil and gas company PDVSA.
